Israeli planes violate Lebanese airspace

Four Israeli warplanes and a drone have penetrated into Lebanese airspace in flagrant violation of UN Security Council measures.
The Lebanese military issued a statement through the National News Agency, saying the warplanes crossed into Lebanese airspace on Sunday at 10:45 a.m. local time (0745 GMT) and hovered over Byblos town -- situated approximately 37 km (23 miles) north of the Lebanese capital, Beirut. The planes left an hour later.
The reconnaissance drone was observed patrolling the skies above Hermel town in Beqaa governorate. The aircraft entered the Lebanese airspace over the southern border at 11:00 a.m. local time (0800 GMT) and departed an hour later.
UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which brokered a cease-fire to a 2006 conflict between Israel and Lebaon, calls on Israel to respect Lebanese sovereignty.
