Israel to facilitate arms possession for settlers

GAZA, Sept 1 (KUNA) -- Israeli Interior Minister Eli Yishai has ordered security authorities to facilitate granting licenses for arms possession for the Jewish settlers living in the West Bank, Israel Radio said on Wednesday.

The radio station said the minister gave these orders against the backdrop of the Tuesday armed attack that claimed lives of four settlers in the West Bank town of Hebron.
The attack was claimed by Izz-Eddine Al-Qassam, the military wing of the Islamic movement Hamas. It was widely condemned as "untimely" in shadow of current direct peace negotiations between Israeli and Palestinian leaders -- under US sponsorship. (end) mt.rk KUNA 012208 Sep 10NNNN
