Head of the Artery Of Life Committee in Jordan, Engineer Wael As-Saqqa, stated that all preparations and documentations have been concluded for the Ansar 2 solidarity convoy that will be heading to the Gaza Strip through Egypt on May 14.
During a press conference held in Amman, Monday, As-Saqqa stated that the convoy will be heading from Amman to the Aqaba Port before heading to Nweibe’ Egyptian Port, then by land to the Rafah Border Terminal into Gaza.
He added that 90 participants, representing professional unions, political parties, youth activists, and journalists will be part of the convoy that aims at supporting a number of smaller development projects in the coastal region.
The projects, with a start-up cost of $5000-1000, include professional projects that aim at developing the technical, training and rehabilitation projects eying at providing jobs and decreasing unemployment and poverty rates in the besieged and impoverished coastal region.
The convoy will also be carrying urgently needed medical supplies and equipment not found in Gaza due to the ongoing and illegal Israeli siege.
There are more than 90 types of medications, including infant and children medications, cancer and heart medications, in addition to parts for medical equipment that are not found in Gaza.
As-Saqqa further stated that this convoy is independent, and not part of any convoy that will be heading to the Gaza Strip during that period, adding that all convoy members, except for one woman from Saudi Arabia, are Jordanian.
