AL-KHALIL, (PIC)-- 20 Palestinians in the West Bank city of Al-Khalil city were arrested Wednesday morning as Israeli occupation forces continue in the widest military campaign in the city since 2003.
In an operation that lasted several hours, a large force raided several neighborhoods across the city, apprehending 20 Palestinians and taking them to undetermined destinations, locals said.
Sources said the large majority of those arrested belong to Hamas.
Earlier on Tuesday, IOF troops arrested two men in and around the city. One of them was taken near Al-Ibrahimi Mosque and was alleged to have been carrying a long blade which it was suspected he would use to stab a soldier at the checkpoint outside of the mosque.
The IOF has set up many military checkpoints in the city and surrounding areas as the mass sweep continues.
The escalation in the governorate came after the Eilat operation that killed eight Jewish settlers on Thursday.
