JERUSALEM, August 2, 2011 (WAFA) - The Israeli High Court ordered Tuesday the demolition of the settlement of Megron, southeast of Ramallah, by March. It said the settlement was set up on private Palestinian property.
The Israeli Peace Now movement petitioned the High Court in 2005 to issue an order to evacuate the settlement built in 2001 without a permit from the Israeli government.
The judges stressed that the government should demolish the settlement because it was given a number of chances to evacuate it but had never carried out the decision.
This is the first time the High Court issues a decision to demolish a settlement in the West Bank.
