CAIRO, February 19, 2012- Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu Sunday condemned the Israeli police storming of al-Haram al-Sharif compound in the Old City of Jerusalem and assaulting several worshippers, said a press release.
Ihsanoglu considered the Israeli “serious escalation” as an assault against the entire Islamic Nation and a blatant violation of international law and resolutions.
He held the Israeli occupation completely responsible for the aftermath of the Israeli provocative assaults, as well as called on the United Nations Security Council and the international community to take immediate action to end the ongoing Israeli violations against the Palestinians and their holy sites and prevent the reoccurrence of such crimes that fuel violence and tension in the area.
