RAMALLAH, Nov 20 (KUNA) -- Member of Executive Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) Hanan Al-Ahraawi condemned on Sunday Israel's illegal takeover of Palestinian lands in the Jordanian valley region in the West Bank.
Israel is hampering the peace process and efforts for resolving the strife on basis of a two states' settlement, "through a policy of boosting the illegal apartheid," she said in a statement.
Israel has put its hands on 1,500 acres of territories in the region, known in Arabic as "Al-Aghwar," and annexed them to a settlement built in the area, she added.
Israelis have set a large number of regulations that contradict with the international law to serve their occupational purposes, and promoted a policy of ethnic cleansing, threatening existence of Palestine, she affirmed.
Expropriation of Palestinian lands or properties in West Bank and illegal takeover of private or public lands by Israel is considered a violation of the international law.
She called on the international community and the Quartet to put pressure on Israel immediate to halt building of settlements and stop its continuous violations of international laws.
