GAZA, (PIC)-- The Palestinian center for the defense of prisoners said that the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) rounded up 235 Palestinian citizens in the past month of October including 23 children and ten women.
The center said in a statement on Wednesday that the detainees were mostly from the West Bank, occupied Jerusalem, 1948 occupied land with two fishermen from Gaza Strip.
It said that the detainees include a 9-year-old child from Bethlehem and a 12-year-old child from occupied Jerusalem.
Riyadh Al-Ashqar, a researcher with the center, said that Israel ignored the condition of improving the Palestinian prisoners’ incarceration conditions as stipulated in the exchange deal with Hamas last month.
He said that Israel rather tightened its measures against the prisoners and did not end the solitary confinement policy, noting that special forces stormed prison wards on more than one occasion over the past few days in search of alleged mobile phones and confiscated in the process many electrical appliances.
