Nablus, (PIC)-- Palestinian detainee Hassan Safadi resumed his hunger strike protesting the renewal of his administrative detention and the Israeli occupation authorities' violation of the agreement requiring his release after the expiration of his current detention.
Fouad Safadi, the brother of prisoner Hassan who is detained in Hadarim prison, said that his brother started on June 21 an open hunger strike following the IOA breach of the agreement it signed with him and following the decision of the Israeli military court in Ofer prison renewing his administrative detention for additional six months.
Fouad revealed that, according to information he received from human rights sources, the prison administration at Hadarim transferred his brother to solitary confinement immediately after resuming his hunger strike.
He pointed out that his brother, who had been arrested nearly a year ago and served previously more than nine years in the occupation jails, was to be released on June 29 after the end of his current six-month detention.
Hassan Safadi had gone on an open hunger strike that had lasted 75 days demanding his release and the end of his administrative detention.
He suspended his strike after reaching an agreement with the Israeli prison service last May requiring his release as soon as his current sentence ends and the non-renewal of his detention in return for ending his strike. However, the occupation authorities breached the agreement.
