EL-ARISH, Egypt (Ma’an) -- Three Palestinians were arrested in the Egyptian Sinai on Saturday after entering the country illegally through underground smuggling tunnels, Ma'an's correspondent said.
The men told Egyptian security forces that they were on route to Cairo to undertake business deals. All three had fake passports and between them they had $37,000 in cash.
They have been referred to Egypt's general prosecution services.
Meanwhile, Egyptian intelligence services in Rafah seized an explosive belt hidden inside an abandoned church. Egyptian security deployed forces in the Sinai to prepare for any potential flare-up in violence.
