RAMALLAH, September 29, 2011 (WAFA) - Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki said Thursday that eight Security Council members are guaranteed to vote in favor of the Palestinian bid to the United Nations.

He said to Voice of Palestine radio that “the Palestinian Authority is working now to secure the ninth vote,' pointing out that they will seek either Colombia or Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Al-Malki said the eight countries that voted in favor of the Palestinian bid are Russia, China, India, South Africa, Brazil, Lebanon, Nigeria and Gabon.

The Security Council committee which includes the 15 members will meet Friday to study the Palestinian request to the UN.

The Council decided to refer the Palestinian request to its members committee during a meeting yesterday which only lasted for two minutes due to the members' approval of this step.
