Arab League affirms support to Palestinian people''s rights

CAIRO, Nov 22 (KUNA) -- Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby affirmed Tuesday support to Palestinian legitimate and just rights including the establishment of an independent State and East Jerusalem its capital along with a UN full membership.
Al-Araby made his remarks in a press conference accompanied by Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee Member Saeb Erekat, after meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
The League's Chief said asking for a Palestinian full membership in the UN was "the least we can do after more than 64 years of injustice and suffering." Al-Araby added that the League will continue to exert efforts and ensure Palestine get a full UN membership, noting that they were closely following political developments on such issue.
He said that the league was also closely anticipating next Thursday meeting between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas Movement Chief Khalid Mishaal, which is expected to end division among Palestinian factions.
For his part, Erekat said that he briefed the League's Secretary General on the latest developments on the Palestinian case, including developments on the Palestinian membership in the UN Security Council.
On a different front, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met with the Egyptian President of Intelligence Murad Mowafi and discussed Palestinian developments on the ground.
