JENIN, (PIC)-- Mahmoud al-Sa’di, who is detained by PA security at Jericho central jail, started a hunger strike after 60 days of arbitrary detention. He is being detained by the PA for being the brother in law of Bassam al-Sa'di who is a leader of the Islamic Jihad movement and is detained in occupation jails.
He was taken two months ago from his home in Jenin after trying to stop elements of the PA Preventive Security from arresting his nephew.
Human rights groups in Palestine criticised the continuation of the PA to repress Palestinian residents in the West Bank, especially against freed captives.
The family of Sa'di expressed utter dismay at his continued detention by the PA saying that there is no justification for his detention. They further questioned the PA security decision to detain in Jericho, rather than a jail closer to his hometown.
The family called on PA President Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian Legislative Council and human rights organisations to get Sa’di released and for PA security to stop their campaigns against Palestinian activists.Mahmoud Sa’di goes on hunger strike in a PA jail
