His father, Ratib al-Sharif, said that Israeli soldiers came to his house around 1:30 a.m. and forced the family, including kids, to get out from the house. They asked about his son, but he told them that Ra’ed lives in another house. Soldiers then forced Ratib to guide them to his son’s house, and as soon as Ra’ed opened the door, arrested him.

“I told the soldiers to knock on the door calmly because his wife is pregnant,” said al-Sharif, “but they ordered me to shut up and they continued knocking viciously. My daughter-in-law is now at the hospital with the possibility of losing the baby, and we don’t have any clue about my son’s location.”

Mada, the Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms, said in a statement that it condemns Ra’ed al-Sharif’s arresta and and considered it a clear violation of international law. Mada demanded that concerned international parties put pressure on the Israeli government to release Ra’ed immediately.
