Palestine News & Info Agency - WAFA

QALAILYA, February 6, 2012 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Monday severely beat a Palestinian elderly in Kufr Qaddoum, a town east of Qalqilya in the northern West Bank, while he was trying to stop Israeli bulldozers from razing the village’s land, according to a Palestinian activist.

Yaqoub Ishtawi, 60, was severely beaten by soldiers as he tried to stop three Israeli bulldozers protected by soldiers and armed settlers from razing land in the village, Murad Ishtewi told WAFA.

He added that the elderly was injured in the head then handcuffed and arrested.

Settlers, under the protection of soldiers, started digging the land after bulldozers left, claiming it belongs to them, he added.

Land razing started since Sunday in the village. Residents expressed their fear that the razing aims to expand Kadumim settlement built on their land.
