Hrytsenko: Palestine could become a zone of military conflict - Today at 18:24 | Interfax-Ukraine

Palestine could become a zone of a military conflict that could spread far beyond one region, the head of the Ukrainian parliament's committee on national security and defense, Anatoliy Hrytsenko, has said.

The MP predicted that Palestine would not be recognized as a state at a session of the UN Security Council on Monday, his press office reported.

"There will be a split in the UN [Security] Council. On the one side, there are the United States and Britain who are against the recognition of the Palestinian state, and on the other side, there are China and Russia," Hrytsenko said.

He said that the Palestinian problem could escalate and even lead to military conflict.

"This conflict will go beyond the limits of regional importance, therefore, our diplomats and intelligence officers should monitor the situation and predict how it may affect our state," Hrytsenko said.
