Detained Hamas commander goes on hunger strike

WEST BANK, (PIC)-- Hassan Salame, a commander in the armed wing of Hamas, has decided to go on an open-ended hunger strike starting on Thursday.

Salame said in a leaked message from his isolation cell that he would go on hunger strike in solidarity with Islamic Jihad leader Sheikh Khader Adnan who has been on hunger strike for 61 days.

Salame, who has been in solitary confinement for the past 11 years in Askalan jail, castigated all those who did not support Adnan in his hunger strike waged against his administrative detention, without charge or trial.
