(PIC)-- Sources in Hamas movement told the PIC on Sunday that Prime Minister Ismail Haneyya decided not to attend the Non-Aligned Movement’s summit in Tehran after intensive consultations between Hamas leaders and the Palestinian government in Gaza.
The source, who asked not to be named, revealed that two main factors were behind this decision: the first was the government's concern for Palestinian national unity, and not to deepen the internal rift or to display Gaza as a separate entity from the homeland.
"The second factor is the current position on what is happening in Syria, and the contrast between attitudes toward the crisis and the continued bloodshed," the source added.
The Prime Minister had received an official invitation from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to attend the NAM summit in Tehran.
