Palestine News & Info Agency - WAFA

RAFAH, September 8, 2011 (WAFA) – An Israeli army unit of four Israeli bulldozers and five tanks Thursday entered the Gaza Strip and raided Palestinian land to the east of Rafah, razing the area under heavy military air cover and sporadic shooting, according to local sources.

Israel has escalated its attacks on the Gaza Strip in the past few days, killing two Palestinians and injuring several others in Israeli airstrikes that targeted civilian areas.

  1. If I remember that is an area within view of the Rafah and Karom Shalom crossings, where tunnelers work into Egypt. That whole area, near where the old protected village was, is very dangerous. I used to worry like all hell waiting at the Karom Shalom gate, thinking one of the tunnelers spotters would shoot me thinking I was IDF. Then you have to worry the IDF in the tower there would hit me as they engaged the tunnelers.

Always a tense area to have to wait out there on your own. It is just out of the 300 meters the main IDF patrol radars would reach, but within site, of the IDF Tower.
