BETHLEHEM, September 6, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli soldiers Tuesday arrested an international female activist while participating in a protest against razing land in the village of Al-Walaja, northwest of Bethlehem, according to a local activist.
Awad Abu Sway said soldiers uprooted olive trees while razing land in the village in order to complete building the apartheid wall.
“Activists and Palestinians tried to move 10 olive trees in order to plant them in another land, but the soldiers prevented them from doing so,” he said.
Abu Sway said that the soldiers assaulted those who participated in the protest and injured a number of them before arresting a female activist and a 60-year-old Palestinian.
He said that the settlers are trying to raze and steal more land before a court hearing scheduled for September 27.
The completion of the wall in Al-Walaja will encircle the entire village from all sides leaving only one entrance from the south which will be under the control of Israeli soldiers.
