PNC condemns Israeli arrest of Palestinian lawmaker

The Palestine National Council (PNA) strongly condemned on Thursday the arrest of Palestinian lawmaker Hassan Yousef by Israeli military two weeks after his release from Israeli jails.
Chief of the Amman-based council Salim Al-Zanoun said in a press statement, the arrest is considered another violation to laws and standard procedures taken by various countries.
He called for Yousef's immediate release and the release of other Palestinian MPs based on their parliamentary immunity.
Meanwhile, Al-Zanoun also blamed Israeli occupation for escalating tensions through providing settlers with weapons in the West Bank, a move which he described would jeopardize and destabilize the region, especially with regard to Palestinian motion to seek independent state recognition by the UN.
Earlier, Palestinian media sources said that Sheikh Hassan Yousef, who is also a prominent leader of Hamas was kidnapped by Israeli soldiers.
Yousef was released from Israeli jail two weeks ago after serving a six-year sentence.
