GAZA, October 17, 2011 (WAFA) – Jailed Secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), Ahmad Saadat, was transported to hospital Sunday night after his health condition severely deteriorated following 20 days of his open hunger strike, said a PFLP official.
In a press release, PFLP Central Committee Member, Jameel Mazhar, held Israel fully responsible for Saadat’s life after he was moved to Ramla Prison Hospital.
Minister of Detainees Affairs, Issa Qaraqe, speaking to Voice of Palestine radio on Monday, urged the International Red Cross to visit Saadat and ensure his proper treatment.
Saadat began his open hunger strike on September 27 to protest his detention conditions in Israeli prisons after spending three years in isolation cells.
