EU High Representative Catherine Ashton on Sunday expressed concern at the renewed exchange of fire in the Gaza Strip and the south of Israel.
"I wholeheartedly condemn the indiscriminate targeting of civilians where ever they are. I call on all sides to respect the ceasefire brokered by Egypt, " she said in a brief statement.
Nine Palestinians were reported killed in Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip Saturday night and one Israeli civilian lost his life in rocket attacks in southern Israel said to be fired from Gaza.
