GAZA CITY (Ma’an) -- The families of four detainees recently released in the prisoner swap deal between Hamas and Israel arrived in Gaza on Monday to visit their relatives, a Ma'an correspondent said.

The families of Walid Nassar, Nasser al-Zeir, Iyad Ibayat and Amer Abu Sarhan entered Jordan through the Allenby Bridge crossing and then headed through Egypt into Gaza through the Rafah land crossing.

The four released prisoners were exiled to the Gaza Strip along with 165 West Bank residents as part of the prisoner swap deal between Hamas and Israel to release 1,027 Palestinians in exchange for captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.

Around 40 of the freed prisoners were sent to Turkey, Syria and Qatar.

The prisoner rights group Addameer estimates that Israel has jailed 650,000 Palestinians since 1967.
