Palestinian captives released to Gaza in the last swap spent 2161 years in prison, according to a report published on Monday.

The report, prepared by Abdul Nasser Ferwaneh, a researcher specialized in prisoners’ affairs, said that 38 of the 133 prisoners released to Gaza in the swap between Zionist regime and Hamas on Tuesday, spent more than 20 consecutive years in Israeli prisons, while eight prisoners were incarcerated for over 25 years.
Imprisoned Zionist trooper Gilad Shalit, who was released in exchange for 477 Palestinian prisoners with a promise to release 550 more in two months, spent only 1940 days in captivity, added Ferwaneh.
A total of 87 of the prisoners released to Gaza were arrested before the Oslo Accords in 1993, whereas eight of them were arrested after Shalit’s imprisonment, said the report.
Eighty-four of the released prisoners were sentenced to serve single or multiple life terms, while 19 prisoners, along with the only released woman prisoner to the Strip, had less than 10 years left, added the report.
