AIPU Conf. "unique, unlike other conferences" - Palestinian official

KUWAIT, March 6 (KUNA) -- The President of the Palestinian National Council Saleem Al-Zanoun praised on Tuesday the timing of hosting the 18th Arab Inter-parliamentary Union (AIPU) conference, describing it as "unique and unlike other conferences." Al-Zanoun, made his remarks during the current session of the conference, scheduled to conclude its work later today.
The Palestinian official noted that the Arab region is going through a critical time, proving once again the Arab human thrive toward a decent life amid rules that governs and respect human rights, freedom of expression, and honest work.
Al-Zanoun stressed that a new age is coming to Arab nations, despite the negative and positive circumstances surrounding the rapidly changing developments, hoping also that Arab people triumph and realize peoples hopes and wishes.
For his part, Speaker of Yemeni parliament Yahya Ali Al-Raee said that the "current political crisis we all witnessed in recent months, came and could have stopped all developmental progress, we barely overcome such dangers and violent path due to the wise leadership of many leaders, parties, and political organizations." The Yemeni Speaker added the caretaker of GCC initiative to Yemen political crisis was vital in the country, noting that the recent Yemeni president election was a "complete success." Al-Raee said that the Palestinian issue is still the main factor to all what has been taking place in the Arab world, praising the recent event of raising the Palestinian flag over the headquarters of UNESCO.
"We are looking forward to raising the same flag in Jerusalem as the capital of an independent Palestinian state," A-Raee added.
Last night, the AIPU witnessed similar speeches by other Arab speakers, conclusively asserting on the critical time the Arab, region, and international arena is facing, which calls for unifying stance and work for the safety of the Arab world.
