RAMALLAH – March 15, 2012, (WAFA) – Israeli soldiers Thursday suppressed a rally near Ofer military camp and prison, west of Ramallah, held in support of Hana Shalabi, who is on hunger strike for 29 straight days.
Soldiers fired tear gas at the protesters who were calling for an end to the occupation and the liberation of all prisoners. Many suffered from gas inhalation and suffocation.
Shalabi, who was released in October in the prisoners’ exchange, is protesting her re-arrest without charge or trial. She was arrested on February 16 and placed in administrative detention for six months. A court later lowered her sentence by two months.
