Intervention urged for Palestinian prisoner on hunger strike

Richard Falk

The international community is being urged to intervene on behalf of a Palestinian prisoner who has been on a hunger strike for 60 days.
The appeal comes from Richard Falk, UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory.
Mr. Falk is calling on the international community to urge Israel to resolve the case of Khader Adnan who has refused food since mid-December.
Adnan is protesting being held on what is called “administrative detention”.
Under Israeli law Palestinians deemed a security threat can be kept in prison indefinitely without charge or trial.
