RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Over 50 people were injured on Sunday during protests in the West Bank and East Jerusalem against Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, a Ma'an correspondent and witnesses said.

Israeli soldiers fired tear gas and rubber bullets at protestors who had gathered outside Israel's Ofer prison, injuring 20 people, a Ma'an reporter said.

At Qalandia checkpoint, one protester was wounded by a rubber bullet as Palestinian youths threw stones and Molotov cocktails at troops.

In Hebron, hundreds of university students and staff marched in solidarity with the Gaza Strip. In Arrub village, Israeli forces arrested Emad Khader Nofal Badawi, 22, witnesses said.

Youths threw stones at Israeli soldiers, who fired tear gas and sound bombs at the villagers.

In Bani Naim village similar clashes broke out with several people suffering tear gas inhalation.

In Bethlehem, Israeli forces fired multiple tear gas canisters and rubber bullets at protestors who had gathered near an Israeli watchtower by Rachel's Tomb, injuring 33 people, a Red crescent official said.

Youths threw stones at the watchtower in protest against Israel's ongoing attacks on Gaza. Eight people required treatment at Beit Jala hospital.

A medical official in Bethlehem Abed Jaafri told Ma'an that ambulances were on standby to treat any wounded demonstrators.

Over 50 people gathered by Damascus gate in East Jerusalem to protest Israel's assault, the Palestinian Prisoners Society said.

Demonstrators lit candles in solidarity with the Gaza Strip and called for an end to Israel's 45-year old occupation, PPS director Nasser Qus said.

On Saturday, dozens of Palestinians were injured and at least 10 arrested during West Bank demonstrations against Israel's offensive on the Gaza Strip.
