Israel places 18 Palestinian prisoners under administrative detention

NABLUS, (PIC)-- An Israeli military commander has approved the transfer of 18 Palestinian prisoners to administrative detention following a recommendation by the Israeli Attorney General, the International Solidarity Foundation for Human Rights said.

Among those placed under administrative detention without charges was Palestinian MP Mohammed Mutlaq Abu Juheisha (Al-Khalil). His term was extended another four months.

Most of those transferred were former prisoners who spent decades in Israeli prisons and who were taken prisoner during the recent unjustified arrest sweep in Al-Khalil, the West Bank, said ISFHR lawyer Ahmed al-Beitawi.

He pointed out an escalation in administrative decisions Israel has made lately against dozens of Palestinian prisoners, saying the situation indicates Israel’s inability to pin charges on them.
