GAZA CITY (Ma’an) -- The armed wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine said its forces launched two rockets toward the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon late Friday.
The Abu Ali Mustapha Brigades said in a statement that it rejected "any truce with the occupation" and would not abandon resistance. The leftist faction called for unity and more attacks on Israeli targets.
The group took responsibility for another rocket several hours earlier. None of the most recent attacks caused damage or injuries, the Israeli news site Ynet reported.
The Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades said it fired the rocket in response to "Israeli crimes."
The group was the only armed faction in the Gaza Strip to reject a short-lived ceasefire deal agreed Sunday by Hamas and others. Hamas' armed wing and militants aligned with Islamic Jihad had agreed.
Two members of Islamic Jihad's military wing were then killed in an Israeli attack days later; the barrage of airstrikes and rockets launched from Gaza shattered the ceasefire.
A new ceasefire was declared early Friday by Islamic Jihad following the renewed violence.
