GAZA CITY (Maan) -- Palestinians rallied in Gaza City on Friday to mark Al-Quds Day, marching from the As-Saraya mosque to Ash-Shawwa tower after Friday prayers.
PFLP-General Command politburo member Adel Al-Hakim addressed the protesters lauding Muslim unity in the cause of freedom.
Jerusalem will remain the legacy of the Muslim and Arab people, Al-Hakim said, despite Israeli efforts to Judaize the city.
Palestinians regard East Jerusalem, annexed by Israel in 1967, as the capital of their future state, while Israeli officials insisted the city remain undivided under Israel's control.
Marking Al-Quds [Jerusalem] Day, an event marked internationally by solidarity activists, the party official said the occasion is confirmation of continued resistance and steadfastness.
Jerusalem, and the holy site of the Al-Aqsa compound -- housing both the mosque of the same name and the Dome of the Rock," are "in danger," Al-Hakim warned.
The PFLP-General Command split from the better-known PFLP (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine) in 1968 and is considered to be close to Syria.
