Al-Quds Brigades: Gaza situation ‘escalating’

Bethlehem – PNN – Abu Ahmad, the spokesman for the Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) movement, has declared that Israel will be unable to end its ‘war’ in Gaza ‘as it wishes’.

ImageIsraeli raids on the Strip in the past two days have left 15 dead and 40 injured, according to the Palestinian newspaper Al-Quds.

In a conversation with PNN’s broadcast division, Ahmad said that there was ‘consensus’ amongst the various groups of militants in Gaza to engage in ‘resistance against Israeli aggression’. He added that the al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, had declared an end to their ‘truce’ with Israel.

According to the Al-Hayat London, Egyptian authorities delivered a message from Israel to Hamas declaring that Israel would only cease air strikes against the Strip after Hamas stopping firing rockets. Ahmad claimed that the message was a ‘deception’.

“[We] will only find a way to stop the rocket attacks once the Israeli enemy is injured and once their lands are bombed.”

Hamas has claimed this afternoon that it is attempting to avoid an escalation of hostilities with Israel through discussion with other militants in the Strip.
