Israeli Air Strikes Continue on Gaza

GAZA, August 19, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli warplanes continued their strikes on the Gaza Strip Friday for the second day in a row, according to witnesses.

An air strike on Nusseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip injured two people, including a pregnant woman, said the sources. They were reported in moderate condition.

The strike cut power lines in Nusseirat and many areas in central Gaza were left without electricity.

An Israeli army helicopter fired a missile at a Palestinian car driving on the coastal road northwest of Gaza City but apparently missed its target. No one was hurt in the attack.

Meanwhile, Rafah residents Friday buried six Palestinians, including leaders of the armed wing of the Popular Resistance Committees, and a two-year-old child, who were killed in an air raid on a house in the southern Gaza town.

Gaza residents also buried a 13-year-old boy, also killed early Thursday in an air strike at his home.

In related news, a 31-year-old Palestinian who was seriously injured in an Israeli air strike on Zaitoun neighborhood of Gaza City on Tuesday, died Friday of his wounds. Another Palestinian was killed in the strike.
