Arab League Condemns Continued Settlement Activities in Jerusalem

CAIRO, August 15, 2011 (WAFA) – The Arab League Monday condemned the new escalation of settlement activities in Jerusalem and considered it a defiance of the international community and legitimacy resolutions, said a press release issued by the office of the Arab League’s secretary general.
It said that the Israeli escalated settlement activities undermine the two-state solution and impedes all Arab and international efforts aiming to calm the situation.
It demanded an immediate and complete cessation of all Israeli settlement activities, which affect Palestinian people’s inalienable rights and called on international community and Security Council to force Israel to comply with international legitimacy, law and resolutions, particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention.
The Arab League reiterated its call to all countries that have not yet recognized the state of Palestine based on the 1967 borders to do so and to accept its full membership at the United Nations.
