BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- The Spanish foreign affairs minister said Sunday that she hopes the EU can push forward efforts for the recognition of a Palestinian state, Israeli news site Ynet reported.
An upcoming September 2 meeting between European Union foreign ministers is an opportunity to show support for a Palestinian state, Trinidad Jimenez said.
"There's the feeling that now is the time to do something, to give the Palestinians the hope that a state could become reality," Jimenez said Sunday in an interview with Spain's El Pais newspaper.
"We have to give them some signal, because if we don't it could generate great frustration for the Palestinian people," Jimenez added.
