According to satellite-report from the Ship to Gaza spokesman Dror Feiler on Monday at 11 am (Swedish time) is the French boat "dignité / Karama '(dignity) northwest of Port Said, about 20 nautical miles from land. The waters are busy and full of drilling platforms for gas. It is currently the southeast. The idea is that within a few hours go to a point just outside Egyptian territorial waters, between Port Said and El Arish, where the darkness will be awaited. During the next day they put full speed towards the target in Gaza.
The ten passengers on board see themselves as representatives of the Freedom Fleet, whose other vessels due to different manipulations - red tape, sabotage, sudden government ban, withdrawal options - forced to remain in the Greek ports.
Dignitas, flying the French flag, left Corsica on June 25, and have been in Greek territorial waters until Saturday. Then did the little island of Kastellorizo and headed södut. So far it has not encountered any obstacles on the road.
Among the passengers are found, except Dror Feiler who is also chairman of the European Jews for a Just Peace, Claude Leostic and Thomas Sommer-Houdeville, both representing the French initiative Un bateau pour Gaza, Vangelis Pissias, from Greek Ship to Gaza, and Stéphane Corriveau Canadian Boat to Gaza. On board is also a team from the television channel Al Jazeera and the well-known Israeli journalist Amira Hass, who reports to Haaretz.
"Dignity" action should not be considered a mini-version of the Freedom Flotilla 2, but as an overture to what is to come. It is a message that while addressed to the Israeli government, the international community and to the trapped population in Gaza: We in the Liberty Fleet offers us not only this inhumane and illegitimate blockade completely abolished. Right up until the day we headed for Gaza.
