International Middle East Media Center

Local sources reported Friday that dozens of Palestinian residents of Ni’lin village, near the central West Bank city of Ramallah, supported by Israeli and international peace activists, held the weekly nonviolent protest against the Wall and Settlements built on Palestinian lands. Soldiers attacked the protesters and fired gas bombs at them, several injuries were reported.

Several leaders of local parties also joined the locals in their weekly nonviolent protest.

As the protesters arrived at the iron gate of the Annexation Wall, Israeli soldiers used loud speakers ordering them away, and claiming that the area is a “closed military zone”.

The protesters refused to leave and raised Palestinian flags while chanting against the occupation demanding their right to access the orchards privately owned by the residents. Soldiers fired gas bombs at the protestors leading to several injuries.

The Annexation Wall in Ni’lin and all other Palestinian areas is illegal, and is built in a way that enables Israel to illegally capture more Palestinian lands, and to expand the illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied territories.

In 2004, the International court at the Hague issued an advisory ruling stating that the Annexation Wall Israel is building in the occupied territories is illegal, and called for its removal and for compensating the Palestinians affected by its construction. Israel rejected the ruling.
