Israel Issues Demolition Order of Mosque in Salfit for Second Time

SALFIT, July 25, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli authorities Monday issued a demolition order for the second time of a mosque in Bourqin, a town west of Salfit in the northern West Bank, under the pretext of being built without a permit.

Akrama Samarah, mayor of Bourqin, denounced the Israeli allegation, saying that the mosque is located between dozens of houses and among the natural expansion of the Israeli-proposed structural plan of the village, which the Israeli authorities are stalling to approve.

Samarah called on international bodies and institutions and human rights committees in the Palestinian Territory to pressure Israel to approve the new proposed plan, in order to save tens of Palestinian houses from demolition orders.

Israeli authorities issued a demolition order of the mosque six weeks ago and another demolition order of Bourqin's girls school two months ago, even though the school was recently founded with funding by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), located within the structural plan of the town, and legally and officially licensed, Samarah added.
