Jerusalem – PNN – Israel has announced plans to expel 384 Palestinian activists from Jerusalem.
Israeli intelligence services summoned prominent Palestinian activists last week to inform them of the decision, which it claims will only affect those who continue to operate in September.
But the director of the Jerusalem Centre for Social and Economic Rights (JCSER), Zaid Al-Hammouri, has warned in a conversation with PNN that the decision might affect any Palestinian living in Jerusalem, adding that ‘thousands’ may face expulsion.
Critics have claimed that the plans are the most recent attempt by the Israeli government to reduce the number of Palestinians resident in occupied East Jerusalem, something Israel denies.
