JERUSALEM, August 20, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli police assaulted a Palestinian and raided homes in two separate East Jerusalem neighborhoods, according to witnesses.
Family members of Nidal Aqil said he and friends were hanging around his house in the French Hill area of East Jerusalem late Friday night when border guards approached them and asked for their identity cards.
The police harassed the Palestinians, which apparently developed into a scuffle. Police sprayed pepper into Aqel’s eyes, causing him grave pain, and later arrested him, said the family members.
In another neighborhood of East Jerusalem, police and border guards raided several homes in Ras El-Amoud area and tampered with their content.
The Committee for the Defense of Silwan said that the police used vicious dogs and electronic detecting devices to search the homes after ordering all the residents to leave them.WAFA
