Cairo - The Politburo Chief of the Palestinian Hamas movement Khaled Meshaal hailed Tuesday the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit as 'a step towards releasing all Palestinian prisoners.'
'Hiding Shalit for the past five years inside Gaza is something the Palestinians can be proud of,' Meshaal told 40 Palestinian prisoners who will be deported to Turkey, Qatar and Syria in a press conference in Cairo.
He said Hamas movement has presented an example 'for successful negotiations that forced Israeli Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu into concluding the swap deal and embarrassing him in front of the Israel public opinion.'
Meshaal also said that 'the enemy only gives in under pressure.'
He assured the deportees that they will return to their homeland and that all the 'Arab Muslim countries are their country.'
