RAFAH, (PIC)-- Freed Hamas leader, Yahya al-Sinwar, who was freed today as part of the prisoner exchange deal, said upon his arrival in Gaza that he will work for the release of all Palestinian captives in Israeli occupation jails.
In a statement to Safa news agency, Sinwar said: “We will do our best to free all captives in occupation jails, especially those with high sentences, whatever the cost."
He thanked the factions that held IOF soldier Gilad Shalit and who managed to hold him for five years until a deal was concluded.
Sinwar was born in Khan Younis in 1962. He was a founder of the Islamic Student Bloc at the Islamic university in Gaza. He was arrested several times by the Israeli occupation. In 1988 he was arrested but no charges could be brought against him because interrogators could not find out anything about the nature of his activities, thus he was placed in administrative detention without charge or trial until 1989, then he was served 462 years in jail.
He was one of the leaders of the first intifada which started in December 1987.Sinwar: we will free all captives
