A Palestinian official source disclosed to Aki News Agency that the United States Special Envoy for Middle East Peace David Hale arrives next Thursday before the Arab League Peace Initiative Follow-up Committee meetings, which are set for February 5th, to restore Amman meetings.
The source also told Aki that Hale's visit comes amidst international "traffic" in the area. The UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon arrives today, Tuesday, while the Canadian Minister for Foreign Affairs is already visiting the area. Meanwhile in the next two days, the German Minister for Foreign Affairs arrives.
Riyad Al-Malki, the Palestinian Minister for Foreign Affairs confirmed, "President Mahmoud Abbas is giving enough chance for any possibility of resuming the negotiations on the basis of settlement freeze and recognition of the peace process principles." He also said, "In light of the failure of the exploratory meetings between both sides in Amman, he will make the decision along with the Palestinian Authority, taking into consideration the opinion of the Arab Follow-up committee and a number of friendly countries."
