CAIRO, January 28, 2012 (WAFA) –The outcome of the exploratory talks between Palestinian and Israeli representatives held recently in the Jordanian capital Amman proved to Jordan and the Quartet that the obstacle to the peace process lies in the Israeli position, Nimr Hammad, political advisor to President Mahmoud Abbas said Saturday.
He told WAFA in Cairo before heading to Addis Ababa to participate in the African summit that the Palestinian leadership will evaluate and discuss the results of these talks with the members of the Arab peace initiative committee, which is scheduled to be held on February 4.
Hammad said while all the parties, mainly the United States, say the talks should continue “we expect these parties, especially the US, to say where the obstacle was and who was responsible for it.'
Otherwise, he added, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government 'will continue staling while building settlements, and these talks, whatever they are called, will become useless and worthless.”
He said President Abbas understands very well the regional and international constraints but that Palestinian interest comes first.Palestine News & Info Agency - WAFA
