ARISH, July 11, 2011 (WAFA) – Egyptian authorities allowed the entry of Malaysian aid to Gaza on Sunday night through the Awja port in central Sinai, said an Egyptian official on Monday.
The aid consisted of 32 tons of sewer equipment and pipes and was transferred from Arish port to port Awja in nine trucks. It was provided by the Global Peace Foundation, a non-governmental organization founded by former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad.
Mohamad addressed the Egyptian prime minister to facilitate the entry of the aid shipments, which had arrived earlier at Arish port and were unloaded to start the process of transferring them to Gaza.
