Activities to support the prisoners and calls to end their suffering

The Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli Jails have started six days ago a hunger strike after the Israeli Prison Service cracked down on prisoners after the media and political campaign that they launched to mislead the world public opinion to punish them and stripe them from their basic rights.

Activities all around the West Bank were organized by the Palestinian prisoners’ club with the participation of the prisoners’ families, the national forces, and the organizations that support the prisoner’s rights.

Image To follow up the organized activities all around the West Bank, PNN interviewed Maher Nmura, the spokesman of Fateh of the southern province who confirmed that many events will be held during the coming days to support the prisoners in the occupation jails.

Nmura reported that activities were held today in Hebron University to support the prisoners and a protest tent was put in Ibn Rushd square in the center of Hebron city where many people gathered to show their support to the prisoners. He also mentioned that there were plans to set another protest tent in the southern part of the province on Tuesday where an activity will be held in Ein Sarah. Work in the institutions and official departments will be suspended so that people can participate in the concentration in central Hebron to support the prisoners and demand their rights.

Mahmoud Shtayyeh, Secretary of Fateh in Nablus described the scene as wonderful and expresses the unity and solidarity and stand with our prisoners in the Israeli prisons who suffer isolation, repression and persecution. He also indicated, “With this very crowded activity in front of the Red Cross, the protest tent in Martyrs square and other sites in the province, we express our support for the prisoners until the end of the strike and urge the world to stand for the Palestinian people.”

The Minister of Prisoners’ Affairs, Issa Qaraqe’, expected escalation of the Israeli measures against the prisoners, especially in light of Netanyahu's threats who demanded the Israeli prison administration to escalate their measures against the Palestinian Prisoners.

Qaraqe’ in a meeting with the president of the Red Cross delegation in the West Bank and Jerusalem, asked international and humanitarian protection for the prisoners as the Israelis continue with their inhumane politics.
