Fayyad Declares Support for Prisoners’ Demands

RAMALLAH, October 3, 2011 (WAFA) - Prime Minister Salam Fayyad Monday expressed full support for the demands of the Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails who are on hunger strike demanding better prison conditions.

Speaking at a reception organized by the German Representative Office in Ramallah marking the fall of the Berlin wall and the reunification of Germany, Fayyad praised the Palestinian people’s support for the prisoners.

He said freedom of the prisoners is an inalienable part of the country’s freedom and that their struggle to achieve human dignity is an integral part of the Palestinian peoples’ struggle to regain their national dignity.

He said that the Palestinians’ strong will power will bring down the wall of apartheid and settlements Israel is building just as the German people brought down the Berlin wall and reunified Germany.
