RAMALLAH, October 24, 2011 (WAFA) - PLO Executive Committee Member, Saeb Erekat, Sunday demanded the international quartet to clearly declare the side responsible for the stall in the peace process, in reference to Israel which continues its settlement activities and judaization of Jerusalem, not abiding by the terms of reference for peace.
This came in response to a statement by Special Envoy of the Quartet on the Middle East, Tony Blair, in which he called on each side in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict to submit strong and comprehensive proposals on borders and security within ninety days in order to move the peace process forward.
Speaking to Voice of Palestine, Erekat affirmed the Palestinian side’s commitment to the international references and contents of the road map, protesting against Blair making both sides equally responsible for the stalled peace process.
He said, in response to Blair’s claims that the Arab Springs spell more regional instability that could complicate the Palestinian–Israeli peace efforts, that, “Israel is the one hindering peace and democracy.”
