GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- The Popular Resistance Committees will kidnap more Israeli soldiers until all prisoners are freed, spokesman Abu Mujahid said Tuesday.

"The Palestinian resistance will continue on this track until all prisoners are freed," Abu Mujahid told Ma'an.

PRC militants helped capture Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit near the Gaza border in June 2006.

Shalit was freed on Tuesday in exchange for 1,027 Palestinians held in Israeli jails in a deal negotiated by Hamas.

Abu Mujahid said 294 prisoners had arrived in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday. Other prisoners were returned to the West Bank while 40 detainees were sent into exile abroad.

Israel will release an additional 550 prisoners in two months according to the terms of the deal.

The PRC official thanked Palestinian resistance fighters for a "historic victory."
